Travel tracking
Tracking travellers' locations to provide prompt help in an emergency. It gives a company visibility into where employees are at any given time during a trip, so support can be dispatched quickly if a crisis occurs nearby. This capability is a core part of fulfilling duty of care for travellers in higher-risk locations.
Traveller tracking can be based on itinerary data — flights, hotels and ground transport booked through the company's channel — or on active location data from a mobile app, usually with the traveller's consent. Itinerary-based tracking shows where travellers are expected to be; app-based tracking shows where they actually are. Many companies combine both, using itinerary data for all trips and active tracking only for higher-risk destinations.
Tracking raises important privacy considerations. Companies need a clear legal basis, transparent communication with employees and strict rules on who can access location data and for what purpose. When done properly, tracking is a tool for protection rather than monitoring: it allows the company to answer the question 'Are any of our people affected?' within minutes of an incident, and to contact them quickly.
With Tumodo, all trips booked on the platform are recorded in one system, giving the company an up-to-date picture of who is travelling, where and when. Travel coordinators can see upcoming trips in a travel calendar, and flights can be tracked in real time, with instant alerts about delays or cancellations. This makes it easier to identify and contact employees who may be affected by a disruption.
