Expense report
An employee's report listing trip expenses with supporting documents. It itemises what was spent, when and why, typically attaching receipts or invoices as evidence for each line. Once submitted, the expense report is usually reviewed and approved before the employee is reimbursed.
A typical expense report includes the traveller's name, the trip or project it relates to, the date and amount of each expense, the currency, the category (such as meals, taxis or accommodation) and the business purpose. Receipts or invoices are attached to support each item. Depending on the company, the report may also include daily allowances, mileage claims and advances already received, so that the final amount owed to the employee — or by the employee — can be calculated.
Expense reports are one of the most time-consuming parts of business travel. Employees often submit them late because collecting receipts and filling in forms is tedious, and finance teams spend hours checking amounts, currencies and policy compliance. Errors, missing receipts and duplicate claims are common. Automating as much of the process as possible — capturing receipts digitally, pre-filling booked services and applying policy rules — saves time on both sides and speeds up reimbursement.
In Tumodo, much of the expense report is filled in automatically. Services booked through the platform are already recorded with their documents, so employees do not need to report them manually. Paper receipts for on-trip expenses can be scanned in the mobile app and are added to the trip documents instantly, and configured daily allowance rules are applied automatically when a travel expense report is created. Finance teams receive complete, consistent data rather than a pile of receipts.
